How Far in Advance Should I Book a Dog Walker in Bayshore NJ?

If you know you’ll need help with your dog during the workweek, one of the first questions is often:

How far ahead should I schedule a dog walker?

The answer depends largely on whether you need a recurring weekly schedule or prefer to book walks as needed.

If you’re looking to book a dog walker in Bayshore NJ, here’s how scheduling works at Dog Days NJ.

How to Book a Dog Walker in Bayshore NJ

If you’re a brand-new client, it’s best to reach out before the first day you actually need service.

Before walks begin, we’ll need time to complete registration, review your dog’s information and schedule a Meet & Greet.

This is especially important if you’re starting a new job, returning to the office or beginning a regular commute. Establishing care ahead of time means your dog’s routine is already in place when your schedule changes.

Recurring Dog Walking Clients: Set It and Forget It

Recurring clients are families who need walks on the same days each week—for example, every Monday through Thursday.

Once we establish that schedule, we enter the recurring visits into our Time to Pet client portal.

From there, there is nothing else you need to do each week.

Your regular walks remain on the schedule automatically.

You would only need to use the portal if you:

  • Need to request an additional walk outside your normal schedule

  • Need to cancel an upcoming visit

  • Need to make another scheduling change

For cancellations, Dog Days NJ requires at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged the full scheduled visit price.

As-Needed Dog Walking Clients: Request by Friday

Not every client needs the same days every week.

Some people work hybrid schedules, have rotating shifts or simply need occasional midday help.

For clients who book walks as needed, we ask that visit requests be submitted through Time to Pet by Friday for the following week.

That gives us the best opportunity to build an efficient route and accommodate your preferred visit window.

What If My Schedule Changes at the Last Minute?

We understand that life doesn’t always cooperate with a Friday deadline.

Meetings get added. Office days change. Plans fall through.

We will always do our best to accommodate requests submitted with less notice.

The main difference is that last-minute requests may require a little more flexibility with the visit time, since the week’s routes may already be established.

If we have room, we’ll do our best to help.

Why We Use Time to Pet for Scheduling

All Dog Days NJ visit requests, changes and cancellations are handled through our Time to Pet client portal.

Keeping scheduling in one place helps make sure requests are documented and visible to the team rather than getting lost in a text or email.

Clients can also use the portal to manage pet information and receive visit updates.

If you’re new to the system, we have a separate Time to Pet Setup Guide that walks you through getting started.

So, How Early Should You Book?

The easiest rule of thumb is:

Recurring service: Reach out before you actually need the schedule to begin so there is time for onboarding and a Meet & Greet.

As-needed service: Submit requests by Friday for the following week whenever possible.

Last-minute request: Ask anyway. If we can accommodate it, we will—just be prepared for a little flexibility in timing.

Once recurring care is established, scheduling should be one of the easiest parts of having a dog walker.

Dog Days NJ provides weekday dog walking and drop-in visits throughout Aberdeen, Matawan, Hazlet, Keyport, Union Beach, Cliffwood Beach and Holmdel.

If you’re preparing for a new work schedule or simply want dependable midday help when you need it, contact Dog Days NJ to get started.
